Colorado Springs Airport (COS) is proud to announce a major milestone in its history: launch of the first scheduled international flight. Today, Saturday, June 7, 2025, Southwest Airlines operated its inaugural nonstop seasonal route between COS and Cancun International Airport (CUN).

The weekly service will operate on Saturdays throughout the summer, with additional flights scheduled for November 22 and 29, December 20 and 27, 2025, and January 3, 2026. Tickets are available now at southwest.com.

“This flight marks a historic moment for both our airport and the community we proudly serve, as COS becomes an international airport.” said Alex Kovacs, Acting Director of Aviation at Colorado Springs Airport. “The launch of international service with Southwest Airlines, made possible by our new state-of-the-art Federal Inspection Station (FIS), enhances the speed and convenience our passengers expect from COS. With easy access, value parking, short security lines, and now efficient customs processing, this new nonstop route to Cancun solidifies COS as the smart choice for our community.”

The new 16,300-square-foot FIS facility, built in anticipation of international service, enables efficient U.S. Customs and Border Protection processing for arriving international passengers. The project was funded by a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Airport Infrastructure Grant Program and airport cash. No local tax dollars were used for the project.
