Do you love City of Colorado Springs’ open spaces? Do you have captivating photos of a beautiful sunset from Palmer Park, vibrant wildflowers in Blodgett Open Space or stunning limestone formations in Red Rock Canyon? Whether you are a seasoned photographer or a casual, smart phone shutterbug, Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) wants your photos recreating or simply enjoying the peace and tranquility in the city’s open spaces.
PRCS invites the public to submit their images for the 13th edition of the Discover COS Calendar. This annual tradition celebrates and showcases the natural beauty of Colorado Springs parks, trails and open spaces.
The 2026 Discover COS Calendar theme “Rooted in the Outdoors” aims to highlight the essential role that open spaces play in the community. These landscapes not only offer a chance to connect with nature but also provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of life, opportunities for wildlife observation, and access to some of the city’s most scenic and ecologically significant areas.
All submissions must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025. Photos can be submitted by emailing calendar@coloradosprings.gov, or they can be dropped off or mailed to 1401 Recreation Way. Winning submissions will be announced at an awards ceremony in October. Following the announcement, calendars will be printed and made available for a suggested donation. All proceeds will help support the reforestation of the former Snyder Quarry in Black Canyon Open Space.
As always, please follow all open space rules and regulations by leaving no trace when capturing photos.
