Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain, in collaboration with Colorado Springs Utilities and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), will host the third annual Youth Fishing Derby on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Crystal Creek Reservoir. Media are invited to cover the event.

This event, which will take place rain or shine, is completely free for registered youth anglers aged 6 to 15 and their parents or guardians. No fishing license is required for youth.

The first 100 youth anglers will receive free fishing gear. Before hitting the water, volunteers will lead a brief demonstration covering essential skills such as casting, knot tying, baiting, and handling fish safely.

Participants will have the chance to compete for prizes in several fish categories, adding a bit of friendly competition to the day. The Derby will conclude with an awards ceremony to honor all youth anglers, followed by a complimentary lunch at 11:30 a.m.
