Overview

The Fillmore Bridge Project is conducting an in-depth analysis of the current condition of the bridges on Fillmore Street over Monument Creek, the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail, and the Union Pacific Railroad, and seeks to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety along Fillmore and provide trail connection(s) to the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail.

The most recent bridge inspection (completed in May of 2024) determined the Fillmore Street bridges to be in fair condition and safe for the traveling public. The City routinely conducts enhanced visual inspections and takes drone-based measurements to closely monitor bridge safety. More extensive inspections take place every two years. These ongoing inspections and measurements confirm that the bridge remains safe, and no movement or damage to the bridge has been recorded since 1980.

In early 2025 routine paving maintenance was completed on the bridges over Monument Creek and the Union Pacific Railroad, just east of I-25. Repairs included updates to the bridge decks, waterproofing, and an asphalt overlay. Ongoing maintenance like this keeps the bridges serviceable until they can be replaced in the near future.
