The City of Colorado Springs ensures that individuals with disabilities have equitable access to public spaces through its Accessible On-Street Parking Program. This initiative supports mobility and independence by reserving designated curbside parking spaces for vehicles displaying valid ADA credentials issued by the State of Colorado.

On-Street ADA Parking Requirements

In accordance with City Code Section 10.18.103 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the City provides and enforces accessible on-street parking spaces that meet the following standards:

  • Location: Spaces are strategically placed near government buildings, medical facilities, commercial corridors, and high pedestrian zones.
  • Design: Each space includes appropriate curb ramps and clear access paths to sidewalks and appropriate signage.
  • Meter Exemption: Vehicles displaying a valid Remuneration-Exempt Placard are exempt from paying parking meter fees in designated ADA spaces.
