CAPRA, the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies, represents a mark of excellence for park and recreation agencies across the nation. Through an accreditation process, CAPRA allows the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services (PRCS) to prove that local parks, programs, and safety practices meet rigorous national standards.

Less than 3% of Park and Recreation Agencies in the United States are accredited. PRCS first earned this recognition in 2020 and attained reaccreditation in 2025. To learn more about the CAPRA Accreditation Process, click the logo below to learn more.

What is CAPRA?

CAPRA is the only national accreditation for park and recreation agencies, administered by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) through its Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies. It measures the overall quality of an agency’s management, operations, and service to the community.
