When did the Community Center close?

Meadows Park Community Center officially closed on October 10, 2025.

Why was the Center closed?

The City of Colorado Springs faced a $31 million budget shortfall, requiring reductions to the operating budget. Many steps were taken to minimize reductions in force and direct service impacts to the community. However, due to declining program demand, the expiration of a key youth contract, and the availability of similar services at nearby City-operated community centers, the difficult decision was made to close Meadows Park Community Center.

Were other options considered instead of closing the Center?

Yes. The decision to close the Center was not taken lightly. City leadership explored multiple options and implemented several strategies across departments to address the $31 million budget shortfall before determining that closure was necessary.

How much is the City saving by closing the Center?

Savings for 2026 are estimated at $775,000.

What happened to programs and facility rentals after the closure?

All programs and facility rentals concluded prior to the closure date of October 10, 2025. Participants and renters with questions about refunds or related matters may contact prcs@ColoradoSprings.gov or call 719-385-5940.

How were participants and renters notified about the closure?

All program participants and renters were notified directly via email in September 2025. Notices were also posted onsite at the facility.

How is the City supporting participants in finding other programs or rental locations?

The City continues to share information about community resources and program offerings available across other City-operated community centers and through partner organizations that provide similar services. Resources can be found at ColoradoSprings.gov/CommunityCenters

Where else can I find the services that the Center is currently providing?

The three other City-operated community centers (Deerfield Hills, Hillside and Westside) offer many programs that are similar, or the same, as those provided by Meadows Park. Additional information can be found on the City’s website:  ColoradoSprings.gov/CommunityCenters
