Since taking office, Mayor Yemi Mobolade has been committed to working with decision makers across all levels of government to communicate the City’s needs, share opportunities, and secure support for Colorado Springs through the power of collaboration. In this spirit, Mayor Yemi met on the phone today with White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs Deputy Chief of Staff Christina Serrano Glassner who is the former Mayor of Mendham, N.J.

On the call, Mayor Yemi emphasized Colorado Springs’ strong military presence, support of public safety and infrastructure and underscored the City’s alignment with the Trump Administration’s efforts to balance the budget and create efficiencies within government. The White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs is a unit of the White House Office, within the Executive Office of the President, serving as the primary liaison between the White House and state, county, local, and tribal governments. The Mayor is expected to meet with the Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs during the upcoming National League of Cities (NLC) Congressional Cities Conference next month.

“I want our residents to know that their City government is actively engaging in productive dialogue with our federal government partners to ensure that Colorado Springs has the resources we need to keep up with the demands of our growing city,” said Mayor Yemi. “This is important work, and I am committed to working with all levels of government and across both sides of the aisle to ensure that Colorado Springs is at the table because we all know, ‘If you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu.’”

Colorado Springs has also been active with the U.S. Conference of Mayors where Mayor Yemi serves as Vice Chair of the International Affairs Standing Committee. Additionally, several City leaders have been appointed to serve on NLC national federal advocacy committees. Chief Housing Officer Aimee Cox, Deputy Public Works Director Gayle Sturdivant and Senior Advisor for Government and Military Affairs Sallie Clark, have been appointed to NLC’s 2025 committees for Community and Economic Development, Transportation and Infrastructure Services and Public Safety and Crime Prevention policy committees.

Each was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on their respective committees. The City will also actively participate in the Military Communities Council and Large Cities Council to ensure that Colorado Springs has a seat at the table on important federal issues.
