On July 29, 2025, at approximately 9:05 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department was notified of a traffic crash that occurred near the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Sierra Drive, involving a motorcycle and a mid-size SUV. Medical personnel arrived on scene and transported the motorcycle rider, an adult male, and a passenger who was on the motorcycle, an adult female, to a local area hospital. Members of the Major Crash Team responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The driver of the motorcycle later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation revealed that the SUV was southbound on Sierra Drive at Constitution Avenue. The motorcycle was traveling westbound on Constitution Avenue in the right lane of the roadway approaching Sierra Drive. The motorcycle veered to the left to avoid the SUV, which was making a left turn. The motorcycle struck the left side of the SUV, which caused both the rider and passenger on the motorcycle to be ejected.
On July 30, 2025, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the deceased motorcycle rider and identified him as 28-year-old Christopher James Easton.
This is the 34th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. Last year at this same time, there were 32 traffic-related fatalities in Colorado Springs. That means in the past 365 days, there have been 51 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs.
