A new playground structure at Rampart Community Park.

The City of Colorado Springs celebrated the opening of the newly renovated playground at Rampart Community Park at a ribbon cutting on Thursday, Nov. 20. The redesigned play area brings modern, inclusive, and family-friendly features to one of the city’s most popular neighborhood parks.

The upgraded playground includes new climbing structures, slides and engaging play features designed to offer children more ways to have fun and stay active. A new shade structure and expanded seating create a better place for families to relax and enjoy the park together.

“Rampart Community Park’s new playground gives all kids a fun play space where they can explore, imagine, and work out all their extra energy,” said Britt Haley, Director of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services. “This project shows what a big difference an investment in our park playgrounds can make in our community.”

The renovation also replaced the worn sand surface with an artificial grass play area and added new site concrete, creating a more durable and low-maintenance environment. Outdated and damaged equipment was removed, giving the playground a fresh look and a more welcoming feel. As part of the project, an Americans with Disabilities Act ramp was added that provides direct access from the parking lot into the main plaza area, improving connections throughout this portion of the park.

The $389,644 project was funded through the Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) Parks fund and the Office of Accessibility. Construction was completed by Star Playgrounds.
