The City of Colorado Springs has released its 2024 Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR), providing residents with a clear, accessible, and transparent summary of the City’s financial health and accomplishments for last year.
“Our goal is to be strong stewards of the City’s financial resources and to deliver effective and efficient services that meet the needs of our residents,” said the City’s Chief Financial Officer Charae McDaniel. “I hope this report helps residents better understand and engage with the City’s financial decisions and long-term planning.”
The 2024 PAFR captures several notable achievements that reflect the City’s commitment to public service, infrastructure, and community well-being:
- 94,331 potholes were repaired, a significant increase from the previous year, enhancing roadway safety and reducing wear on local streets.
- The Colorado Springs Police Department responded to more than 250,000 calls for service, supporting public safety citywide and launched a “drone as a first responder” program.
- The Colorado Springs Fire Department received a new fire apparatus, launched a 24/7 drone program, and enhanced emergency response training.
- The COS Airport continued serving over 2 million passengers, further enhancing travel connectivity.
In addition to showcasing service accomplishments, the 2024 PAFR also provides a comprehensive snapshot of the City’s financial condition. The report breaks down key revenue sources such as sales and use tax, which accounted for nearly 60% of General Fund revenues, and highlights how funds like the Public Safety Sales Tax were allocated to support police and fire operations. Through charts and summaries, the PAFR helps residents better understand how tax dollars are invested to support core functions, capital improvements, and long-term community priorities.
