The City of Colorado Springs accepted a $10,000 donation today from Phil Long Dealerships to support the Keep It Clean COS campaign, a citywide effort to remove trash from public spaces, driven by City departments, community partners, and residents working together through collaboration, action, and education to keep Colorado Springs clean and vibrant.
At a ceremonial check presentation in the Mayor’s Office, Mayor Yemi Mobolade and President and CEO of Phil Long Dealerships Kevin Shaughnessy, stood side by side to recognize the generous donation that will support public engagement initiatives, cleanup events, and the distribution of community litter kits.
“We are deeply grateful to Phil Long Dealerships for stepping up again with this incredible contribution,” said Mayor Mobolade. “This donation is not only a wonderful investment in the Keep it Clean COS campaign to help keep our City beautiful, it’s a statement of shared responsibility and pride in our community. It takes a village to make Colorado Springs a cleaner, more connected, and more vibrant place to live, and these partnerships are proof that our collective efforts can build something truly extraordinary.”
Last year, Phil Long Dealerships donated nearly $14,000 to the City’s 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings initiative. Both donations were part of the annual “Thanks, Jay” giveback campaign, held in honor of the automotive group’s previous President and CEO Jay Cimino, who passed away in February 2024. For every new and pre-owned vehicle sold in April, the month of Cimino’s birthday, donations were made to five community-focused organizations and projects.
“Jay dedicated his life to connecting others to the resources they need to be their best. We are proud to carry on that legacy,” said Phil Long Dealerships’ President and CEO Kevin Shaughnessy. “Thank you to all our customers. Your continued trust in us allows us to make such a strong, positive impact in Colorado Springs, a community we have been a part of since our doors first opened in 1945.”
