The City of Colorado Springs is adjusting the Pikes Peak parking lot retaining wall schedule to add greater structural support and safely shore up the retaining wall. The work was originally intended to finish by the end of May.
The parking lot, north of Colorado Avenue between 25th and 26th Streets, will open for Territory Days, which occurs Memorial Day weekend in Old Colorado City. Only 1-3 stalls will be unavailable during the annual event due to the construction project. Territory Days attendees are encouraged to take advantage of the free shuttle from the City Administration Building’s parking garage at 30 South Nevada Avenue, which costs only $1/hour and is free on Sundays.
After Territory Days are over, project construction will resume with a mid-June completion date targeted. During the final few weeks, construction activity will occur in the upper parking area only.
Alternate parking locations during construction:
- East side of Pikes Peak lot
- Cucharras Lot (2422 W. Cucharras Street)
- Colorado Alley Lot (2617 W. Colorado Avenue)
