The Westside Community Center (WCC) will host the second annual Community Saleabration Block Party on Saturday, June 14 from 8 a.m. to noon.
The free family event, a part of the City’s 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings initiative, will feature a community-wide yard sale, swap meet, food trucks and live music.
The Westside Community Center offers a variety of programs and activities to build a stronger, more connected neighborhood. June marked the three-year anniversary of the facility being operated by the City of Colorado Springs. The community center now operates as a public-private partnership, integrating feedback from residents’ recommendations. This partnership allows for City staffing and funding while providing revenue-generating opportunities through external partners and nonprofit organizations.
The City of Colorado Springs, in partnership with co-host Hey Neighbor and various community organizations, is inviting residents to host neighborhood gatherings this summer. This initiative, launched in May 2024, aims to help address mental health by encouraging residents to connect with one another through gathering and building a social support system in their own neighborhoods.
New this year are several unique ways and resources for neighbors to gather, all with the goal of creating a safe, welcoming and vibrant neighborhood. This includes park gatherings, safety gatherings, volunteer gatherings, and neighborhood gatherings.
