On July 19, 2025, at approximately 10:52 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department was dispatched to a single-vehicle traffic crash in the 4100 block of Drennan Road. Upon arrival, officers learned that a single motorcycle had crashed, ejecting the rider.
Medical personnel responded to the scene, but the rider was determined to be deceased. Major Crash Team Detectives responded and took over the investigation. The preliminary investigation has determined that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to navigate a roundabout at the time of the crash.
On July 21, 2025, the El Paso County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy of the deceased motorcycle rider. The motorcycle rider has been identified as 27-year-old Johnny Givens.
This is the thirty-first traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. At this same time last year, there were thirty-one traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs. That means in the past 365 days, there have been 49 traffic-related fatalities in Colorado Springs.
