By Wednesday, Nov. 26, traffic will move to the new westbound bridge on Circle Drive, weather permitting. The shift marks a major milestone in the multi-year effort to replace the aging bridge structures and improve long-term safety and mobility along one of the city’s major corridors.

Following the traffic shift, drivers should see only minor changes while crews begin demolishing the old westbound bridge. The overall project is expected to be complete in mid-2026. When work wraps up next year, Willwood Tunnel will reopen in a one-way configuration to improve traffic flow and enhance safety for all users.

The Circle Drive Bridges project replaces two sets of twin structures on Circle Drive, east of Interstate 25, between Janitell Road and Monterey Road. At more than 800 feet long and 60 feet above Fountain Creek, the structures carry two lanes of traffic in both directions. The bridges span over Fountain Creek, the railroad tracks, Las Vegas Street, Hancock Expressway, and the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail. The original bridges were originally built in 1963.
