The Parks, Recreation, Trails and Open Space Master Plan helps guide the City in the planning, management, programming and funding of all the parks, trails, and open space within the City of Colorado Springs.

2014-2025 Master Plan

What Does this Plan Address?

The City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department manages a wide range of places and services that contribute to residents’ quality of life, including:

  • developed parks
  • trail system
  • open spaces and natural areas
  • urban forest
  • street medians|public rights-of-way
  • park trails
  • the Pikes Peak Highway
  • two golf courses
  • two cemeteries
  • sports complexes
  • an ice center
  • community centers
  • several indoor and outdoor pools

In addition, the department implements diverse and inclusive recreation programs, facilities and services; and preserves and interprets the cultural and natural history of the Pikes Peak Region through the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, and other visitor services and interpretation.
