Request Remote Disposition
If you are not represented by an attorney
What is a remote disposition?
The Remote Disposition Process has been created to allow you, as a defendant in Colorado Springs Municipal Court, to resolve certain types of cases via email without having to appear in court.
What if I just want to reschedule my court date?
Do not use remote disposition to reschedule your court date. Please view the Municipal Court Frequently Asked Questions page. If you are set for trial, please view the Motion to Continue page.
Which defendants and/or cases are eligible for a remote disposition?
- Defendants are only eligible for this process if they live outside of El Paso County or require an accommodation for a disability.
- Cases are only eligible if:
- They are traffic citations;
- The charges and/or the defendant’s history are not aggravated; and
- They are not payable (see below).
Payable Tickets – Automatic Point Reduction for Eligible Traffic Offenses
If you have been charged with a traffic offense of 4, 3, or 2 points and your case is payable as indicated on the front of your ticket, then you are eligible for an Automatic Point Reduction instead of a remote disposition. If this applies to you, please do not fill out a remote disposition request as no additional offers will be made remotely in your case. Instead please learn more about Automatic Point Reductions or pay your ticket.
What if I would like to speak with a prosecutor directly or negotiate my plea agreement?
The Email Disposition Process does not allow you to actively negotiate a plea agreement, speak directly with a prosecutor, take driving classes, or dispute your case. If you wish to actively negotiate your plea or speak directly with a prosecutor, you must appear at court on your next scheduled court date or go to Room 108 at the court to set a court date called a pretrial conference where the prosecutor will be present for individual discussions.
What happens after I submit a remote disposition request?
A prosecutor from the City Attorney’s office will review your request. After review, we will send you an email with either a plea offer or a denial. If you accept the plea offer, your case will conclude based on the terms of the plea offer. If you are denied a disposition via email, you must appear at your next scheduled court date. If you do not wish to accept the plea offer or want to contest your case at a trial, you must appear at the court on your next scheduled court date or go to Room 108 at the court to schedule a new court date.
Remote Disposition requests MUST BE submitted at least ten (10) days prior to your scheduled court date.
Please recognize that it may take the Prosecution Division five (5) to seven (7) business days to respond to any remote disposition request. DO NOT contact the Court or the Prosecution Division to ask about a remote disposition until after this time frame has passed.
