The new playground at Woodland Hills Park

The City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department will celebrate the grand re-opening of the renovated playground at Woodland Hills Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m.

The renovation delivers a fresh play experience for neighborhood families while improving long-term accessibility and safety across the park. Crews removed outdated equipment and sand surfacing and installed modern play structures, new seating, and an engineered wood-fiber play surface with a ramp and accessible concrete walkways.

“This renovated playground at Woodland Hills Park reflects our commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and high-quality spaces for every resident,” said Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Britt Haley. “This year, the parks department was able to stretch the available funding to include rehabilitation of this playground in addition to the playground at Rampart Park nearby.”

The ribbon cutting will include remarks from City Councilmember Dave Donelson and Parks Director Britt Haley. Local students from Academy District 20’s Pioneer Elementary School are also expected to join the celebration and playtest the new equipment.

The project was made possible through coordinated funding from the Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) sales tax program, the Conservation Trust Fund, and the City’s Office of Accessibility.
